Now a days it’s not uncommon to see website’s using multimedia more and more.
Text, images, audio, video, and even interactive content is becoming more common online, and people are looking for new and different ways to explore and interpret the information they are looking for.
Being able to appeal to people who prefer content in ways other than basic text can not only increase the relevance and quality of your site, but it can also give you additional ways to draw in traffic!
Through the myriad of social websites and media sharing networks such as YouTube, Facebook, flicker and twitter, and the ability to create your own podcasts it’s easier than ever to connect with new audiences.
The more types of multimedia you use the more options you have for spreading information to readers, listeners, and viewers who are looking for your content and/or products.
Not all content is created equal
When I first started learning about creating a website online I gained most of my information through listening to podcasts.
Not on a website and not by watching video’s.
It was great for long commutes and allowed me to obtain information in a way I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
There are individuals who learn best by watching how to do things and those that just prefer video, and for those types of people high quality videos will most likely appeal to them more than text, audio or images will.
Using multimedia also allows people to learn more by giving them examples in different ways such as combining text, and images with video tutorials, which can greatly increase your brand, image, and authority.
Aside from learning more and creating an entertaining and engaging experience you also give your audience new platforms to communicate and spread your information through.
Being able to tweet updates to your twitter followers and share pictures with them will make them feel closer to you and more up to date, and help you become more liked and human in your interactions.
Having a YouTube page will allow people who spend most of their time online watching video’s an opportunity to find you, learn from you and share you with their friends.
And you already know how podcasting can both add more depth to your content and grab more listeners.
Not only is it great for commutes, but the more often you’re listeners hear you the more trusted and respected you become.
I’m sure by now you understand how much of an impact multimedia can add to your online presence and adding even one of the elements to your website, blog or business can help you expand beyond your current limitations.
Tips: By simply adding images to your content you can provide a more engaging experience with those on your website.
Tell me what experiences have you had using multimedia and how has it helped you out online?
